2024 Special Event - Philbrook Museum
Formerly the home of oilman Waite Phillips, Villa Philbrook was given to the city of Tulsa and restored to preserve the grandeur of the 1920s. Philbrook exhibits more than 8,500 works of art and has 23 acres of exquisite English gardens.
We were proud to welcome Osage Native American, Yancey Red Corn, for a special cultural visit. Just returning from the Academy Awards red carpet, Yancey can't wait to meet all of the WRCIC attendees.
Yancey is best known for his work on the Emmy-nominated film, Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), and is an Osage Native American. Starring with Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone and dubbed a new Martin Scorsese masterpiece.
The story of the Oklahoma tribes begins with the people already here many centuries ago. These proud people flourished as an extension of the Mississippian mound builders east of the great Mississippi River. In the following generation early people settled along rivers: indigenous Caddoans (Caddo, Wichita, and Pawnee), Siouans (Quapaw and Osage), and Athapascans (Plains Apache).
